Bio
Urodzona w 1934 roku w Skrzynnie. W latach 1952-1958 studiowała w Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Warszawie, w pracowni prof. Stanisława Szczepańskiego i prof. Artura Nachta-Samborskiego. Dyplom uzyskała w 1958 roku. W 1963 roku stowarzyszyła się z grupą "Rekonesans" i wystawiała z nią w latach 1964-1966. Brała też udział w retrospektywach grupy w latach 90., poczynając od jubileuszowej wystawy w Galerii Zachęta w 1994. W 1968 roku była stypendystką rządu francuskiego. Od 1992 jest pedagogiem, od 2000 była profesorem Europejskiej Akademii Sztuk w Warszawie.
Artystka od początku lat 60. wiele wystawiała w kraju i za granicą.
O twórczości
Jej ekspresyjne, utrzymane zazwyczaj w ciemnych tonach, niepokojące i dramatyczne malarstwo oscyluje na granicy figuracji i abstrakcji. Tajemnicze, aluzyjne wnętrza i oniryczny nastrój, jaki je wypełnia, stawiają malarkę w rzędzie czołowych twórców malarstwa metaforycznego. Często podejmowanym przez nią motywem jest pejzaż, dający okazję do interesujących rozwiązań kolorystycznych i fakturowych. Chętnie stosowaną przez nią techniką jest akwarela.
Praca znajdująca się w kolekcji WGS BWA powstała na Ogólnopolskim Plenerze Malarskim na podłożu papierowym „Polanica’88”.
Bio
Born in 1934 in Skrzynno. In 1952-1958, she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, in the studio of Prof. Stanisław Szczepański and Prof. Artur Nacht-Samborski. She obtained her diploma in 1958. In 1963, she joined the “Rekonesans” group and exhibited her works with them in 1964-1966. She also took part in the group’s retrospectives in the 1990s, starting with the jubilee exhibition at the Zachęta Gallery in 1994. In 1968, she received a scholarship from the French government. Since 1992, she has been a teacher, and since 2000, she has been a professor at the European Academy of Arts in Warsaw.
Since the beginning of 1960s, the artist exhibited a lot of her works in Poland and abroad.
About creativity
Her expressive, usually dark, disturbing and dramatic painting oscillates between figurative art and abstraction. Mysterious, allusive interiors and the oneiric mood that fills them place the painter among the leading artists of metaphorical painting. The motive she often uses is a landscape, which gives an opportunity for interesting colour and texture solutions. The technique she likes to use is watercolour.
The work covered by the WGS BWA collection was created at the Nationwide Open-Air Painting Workshop on paper “Polanica’88”.
